How Do You Develop Your Core Team Into Leaders?
Month Three Coaching Question: How do you develop your core team into leaders?
A. PRAY!
B. Ask the leaders for a report on their growth steps from the previous month – “How do you enlist your core team and help them catch the vision?”
C. QUESTION FOR THIS SESSION: How do you develop your core team into leaders?
• For this call we are assuming you have a core group of people gathered and ready to help plant the Dinner Church.
D. Develop your Core Team around these Roles:
1. Cooks
2. Set up – clean-up crews – Table coverings, centerpieces, eating utensils, condiments, connect cards, literature, etc.
3. Buffet Table Manager – organize servers, keep food hot, portion control.
4. Worship Musicians – Bring the presence of Jesus through worshipful music. No need to stand and sing the songs together. Have the leaders sing and worship themselves.
5. Artists -Take something from the life of Christ and draw/paint it. Evangelism through art.
6. Preachers – 8-10 minutes. Stories about Christ and stories Christ told.
7. Table friends, hosts – befriending strangers (GREATEST ROLE OF THE NIGHT). Everyone eats–do not create and US/THEM environment. We are not cooking a meal FOR people, We are eating a meal WITH people.
• Note: Gospel Receptivity (US population- Highly receptive 11%, Receptive 27%, Neutral 36%, Resistant 27%, Antagonistic 5%.
E. Now the challenge – re-educate them on what church can look like.
F. Take your core team to visit a Dinner Church and then talk about it.
G. Assign everyone to read the book “Welcome to Dinner Church” (soft cover $9.95) and then taking them through the “Welcome to Dinner Church” video series (DVD or Digital Streaming Video download $22.95). • You need to cast vision in such a way that you are not the only one preaching the importance of Dinner Church, you have a core team of leaders doing that with you.
H. Some key points to emphasize when developing leaders:
1.DC is not an outreach, it’s a church.
2. We are not gathering to point out the sin in people’s lives.
3. We listen and gain influence through relationship.
4. Get yourself right – Make sure you understand what you are trying to accomplish so that you send all the right messages to your core team.
5. Allow questions and process together. Note – Leaders will ask questions because they want to understand.
6. Look for people who seem to be rising to the top.
• Who is asking really good questions?
• Who has a background in certain areas?
• Who is answering people’s questions before you can?
7. Tell a short story of how a group applied this question to their plant and the results they experienced.
8. Give yourself time
• Not everyone will immediately see the vision.
• Consistency over time will help people catch the vision and own pieces of the Dinner Church.
I. Assignment for each leader: What steps can you take between now and the next monthly meeting to answer the question, “How do you develop your core team into leaders?”
J. Prayer of blessing over their proposed growth steps the next month.
